Contests
For a contest you create a separate LogBook of the Contest type. It has exchange fields (serial number, data sent and received), numbers the QSOs by itself, shows whether the station, band or country is new, and after the contest exports the log in Cabrillo or ADIF format.
New contest
- Configuration (F11) → LogBook page → LogBook type: Contest → New contest.
- Contest - choose from the list. Your contest is missing? Edit the list: one line is

- Start and End - the contest period. Outside it the program warns with Contest is out of date and does not save QSOs.
- Data to send - what you transmit:
- Fixed string - e.g. a province or a zone (
B,15), - Auto generate - the next QSO number with a Prefix / Suffix, the starting
Number and the number of Digits (e.g. 3 digits =
001).

- Received data - Pad digits to turns e.g. a received
7into007. - For CW you can replace CQ in the CW window macros with another text (e.g. TEST) - Replace CQ in CW with.
- Save current data as default for this contest will be handy next year. Click Save, then OK in the configuration.
Next to it: Edit curr. contest (changing the settings during the contest) and End contest.
Operating in a contest
In the LogBook window the contest fields replace the program fields:
- Rcvd. - the exchange received from the other station (required),
- No. - the number of the next QSO (with automatic numbering it increases by itself after saving),
- Sent - the exchange sent (required).
The LogBook name at the top of the window has a different color - you can see you are in a contest log. On the right there is the statistics panel: QSOs on the bands (phone, CW, digital) and the NEW CALLSIGN, NEW BAND, NEW COUNTRY, NEW MODE labels, which light up red when the station you typed brings something new. The program also warns about duplicates.
The Menu link on the panel: Change contest data, End and export contest, band and country statistics, Refresh statistics panel, previous QSOs, configuration.
In a contest the CW window with macros and - with a radio - automatic frequency updates are handy. In field activation mode (Enter goes to reports) Enter in the callsign field goes straight to the received exchange field; in home mode it saves the QSO.
Ending and export
End and export contest opens the End Contest window with three steps:
- Export QSO to logs: Cabrillo log file (the entry for the organizer) or ADIF log file.
- Back to main LogBook: choose the log you return to. With the Merge contest QSOs into my LogBook option the contest QSOs are added to it (duplicates are skipped, QSOs from your log take priority).
- Back to main LogBook.
The contest log stays on disk (the CONTESTS folder) - you can return to it and export it again.
Cabrillo
The Export to Cabrillo window:
- 1. Cabrillo data - the entry header: CONTEST, CALLSIGN, categories (CATEGORY-OPERATOR, -BAND, -MODE, -POWER, -STATION, -TIME, -TRANSMITTER, -ASSISTED, -OVERLAY), CLAIMED-SCORE, CLUB, OPERATORS, address data and more. Check the contest rules for what the organizer requires. Save as default for this contest remembers the header.
- 2. Export - removing prefixes and suffixes from callsigns, Overwrite my contest data (sent) with (when the exchange has to be corrected in all QSOs) and the file name.
