Filters and search
How to find a QSO in your log quickly, or keep only the spots you are interested in.
| Tool | Key | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Working Before | F6 | All your QSOs with the station typed in the callsign field. |
| Set filter | F7 | A filter by fields: callsign, band, mode, country, dates, frequency… |
| Clear | F8 | Switches the filter off - the whole list returns. |
| Search | Ctrl+F | Searching text in the list without narrowing it. |
While a filter is active, the list background changes color and the counter at the bottom of the window shows the number of visible rows. Filters also work on spot lists - each source (log, POTA, Telnet…) has its own set of fields.
Working Before
Type a callsign into the Callsign field and press F6 (or the Working Before button). The list shows only contacts with this station - even if you are looking at spots, the program switches to your log. After you save a new QSO, this filter switches off by itself.
Detailed statistics of contacts with this station (bands, modes, dates) are shown in the Previous QSOs in LogBook window - the i button next to the callsign field (when enabled) or Menu → Statistics → Show previous QSO info in LogBook.
Filter
Set filter (F7) opens the Filter window. Tick the fields you want to filter by, enter the values and click Apply.
- Dates - a From / To range; Neg. reverses the condition (everything outside this range).
- CallSign, Band, Mode, Name, Country, Frequency.
- Program fields - in POTA, SOTA, WWFF… logs, e.g. their park and your park.
- QRZ - upload status (Sent to QRZ / Not sent to QRZ) and confirmation status (Confirmed, Not confirmed, confirmation requested / seen / rejected).
- Email QSL - Sent, Received or both.
In spot lists the fields are different, e.g. Spotter, Park Name, Comment, Spotter country.
Matching options
| Group | Options |
|---|---|
| Filter logic | Filter with AND function - a row must meet all ticked conditions; Filter with OR function - one is enough. |
| Default matching | Exactly identical, Starting with, Containing, Ending with. |
| Case sensitivity | Whether sp and SP are the same. |
Special characters in text fields
| Write | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
* | any string of characters | SP* - callsigns starting with SP; */P - ending with /P |
! at the start | negation | !Poland - all countries except Poland |
| | or | Poland|Nor* - Poland and the countries starting with Nor |
&& | and | SP*&&*/P - SP callsigns operating /P |
Conditions with | and && are evaluated in order, from left to right. Type country names as the list shows them.
Frequency filter and macros
In the Frequency field (in kHz) you can enter:
- a range:
7074-7077.5, - a frequency with a width:
7074+3.5(from 7074 to 7077.5), - several ranges separated by commas or semicolons:
7074-7077.5,14074+3.5, - a macro - the name of a saved set of ranges, e.g.
20m,DIGI FT8,DIGI FT4, - a mix of macros and ranges:
DIGI FT8,7100+10, !at the start reverses the whole filter:!DIGI FT8- everything except FT8.
The frequency filter does not accept letters (except macro names) or the characters *, |, &&.
Your own macros
The Advanced button next to the frequency field opens the Frequency filter details window:
- the macro list with Add new, Duplicate as new, Delete current, Save macro changes;
- Macro name and Macro value - ranges as above (a macro cannot use another macro);
- Add default macros - brings back the band set (160m … 70cm) and the
DIGI FT8/DIGI FT4macros; - Apply - puts the chosen macro into the filter.
Example: in a DX Cluster list you want to see only spots from the FT8 segments. Choose the source, press F7,
tick Frequency, pick DIGI FT8 from the list and click Apply.
Search
Ctrl+F (or Search in the list menu) shows a search field below the list. While you type, the program selects the first row containing the text in any column (letter case does not matter). The → arrow goes to the next one (after the end of the list it starts from the top), Esc or X closes the search. Unlike a filter, the list does not change.
