CW Decoder — privacy

What happens to samples sent from the program (the “Help the decoder” button).

The program sends nothing by itself: only after you click “Send” in the “Help the decoder” window with the consent box ticked. It contacts the server only while sending — never at start. If the server does not answer, the package waits on your disk and the program retries; “Stop” during sending deletes the package.

The package travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to the program author’s server (SP4THK) and is used only to train and test the CW decoder. We do not publish the recordings or pass them on.

In the package: audio of the selected pieces (8 kHz, FLAC), the text with your corrections, word timings and readability, radio frequency and mode, program version and system (e.g. “windows x64”), a random installation number (for sending limits and rejecting spam — not linked to your computer or to you). A name — only if you give one.

We do not send: your IP address, e-mail, computer or user name, the callsign from the settings, the file name or any other files from your disk. Like any website, the server may log the IP address of the connection — we do not link it to the package.

The other side of the contact is on the recording too — it is a public amateur transmission; we use it only to teach the decoder.

To delete a package: write to tomek@elfro.pl with its number (P-…) — the list of sent packages is in Settings → Help the decoder.

“Become a tester” request: the program sends the installation number and program version; callsign, e-mail and message — only if you type them and tick the consent box. They are used only to handle that request and deleted afterwards (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)).
